Got combination skin? These home remedies can help you keep your combination skin in check.

Here are some Ayurvedic remedies that will keep your skin glowing if you have discovered you have a combination skin type.

Are you prone to both dry and oily skin? A combination skin type could be you. This skin type is not suitable for all skincare products. It cannot be easy to maintain. Some might dry your skin, while others may make your skin oilier. Combination skin can be difficult to find the right skincare. We have you covered.

Health Shots spoke to Dr. Nikhita Shere (skincare and Ayurveda expert at T.A.C. – The Ayurveda Co.) to learn more about combination skin and the best remedies.

Dr. Shere states, “Ayurveda is an ancient Indian science that claims each person’s Prakriti (or body constitution) is determined by certain doshas in the body.” An imbalance of these doshas could cause oily skin or flaky skin around the T-zone. Combination skin is common in Vata-Kapha Prakriti. Combination skin results from Kapha dosha dominance, which causes excessive sebum production. Vata’s influence keeps certain areas of your skin dry. It cannot be easy to find a skincare regimen that works well for mixed skin. Ayurveda recommends herbal skincare to balance your doshas and restore a healthy skin composition.

These are the best natural ways to hydrate, control excessive sebum production and rejuvenate combination skin.

Aloe vera, honey, and green tea mask

Green tea is a great addition to mixed skin because it has anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antibacterial properties. It prevents skin problems and makes your skin soft and smooth. Aloe vera gel can give your skin a natural glow and nourish your skin. Dr. Shere says honey is a natural cleanser and humectant. This keeps skin moisturized but not too oily.

Make it:

  1. In a small bowl, combine two teaspoons of green tea leaf, one tablespoon of Aloe vera gel and one tablespoon of honey.
  2. Apply the paste to your face for 20 minutes.
  3. After 20 minutes, rinse your face with regular water.
  4. Multani mitti pack

Multani mitti, an oil-absorbing ingredient, is great for people with combination skin. It can also be used to remove acne and cleanse your pores. It cools your face and increases blood flow, which can help improve your skin tone.

Make it:

  1. Combine two teaspoons of Multani Mitti with one tablespoon lemon juice and one tablespoon rose water in a small bowl.
  2. After applying the paste to your skin, leave it on for 20 minutes.
  3. Rinse it off.

Multani mitti can harden over time, so don’t talk while it is on your face.

Honey and cucumber juice

Combination skin is easy with cucumber juice and honey. Honey tightens the pores and provides optimal moisture for the skin. Cucumber, however, can be used to treat dryness and flakes.

How it’s made:

  1. Blend one cucumber finely with a juicer.
  2. Strain the cucumber juice into a bowl and add two teaspoons of honey.
  3. Combine both ingredients in a blender to create a thick, syrup-like mixture.
  4. Apply the mixture to your skin with a cotton ball.
  5. Let it dry completely before you add water.
  6. Curd and dried orange peel

Dr. Shere recommends using orange for combination skin because it acts as a natural source of vitamin C for your skin. This treatment uses curd to tighten the skin, remove dead cells and moisturize deeply.

Once the orange peel has dried, grind it. Add some curd to make a thick paste. After 20 minutes, rinse the paste with lukewarm warm water.
